byob baremnerals1I had the utmost pleasure of attending an exclusive blogger meet up at the bareMinerals store at the SOHO location in NYC. The event hosted by Raven from Swank  Stylista was centered around gathering local NYC bloggers to network, as well as to learn tips about what should and should not be in our make-up bags and how to apply various products.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not a big make up person, although I am fascinated by how products are applied, combined and the final results. But for this event I was excited to attend because I had heard so much about their products from their infamous infomercials in the 90’s. I always wondered, could a little swirl and tap of powder really cover my entire face flawlessly? I will answer that later.

bareMinerals has come a long way from back in the day as I didn’t know they had a store. Its 2 levels tucked away in the heart of SOHO on Prince Street and can only be described as beach contemporary (I just made that term up). When you walk in there are so many colors, palettes and products that line the walls you don’t know where to begin. I don’t say that to mean its a bad thing. Its quite the opposite. It’ll make you want to buy EVERYTHING!

20150411_202205As some of you will come to learn about me, I am obsessed with eyebrow perfection. I have very sparse hair above my eyeballs and I think I’ve done almost everything short of tattoo and brow plugs (yes such a thing exists) to give me the thick lustrous eyebrows like my brow idol Kim Kardashian. If I had brows like that all would be right with the world. So to compensate for the lack thereof I draw. And it sucks, especially in the summer because my face gets extra oily and they kinda melts off. But no more…enter bM Lasting Line Eyeliner. I don’t do eyeliner BUT this is a great brow product. I love this product because it goes on very lightly and if its too dark I can simply use the smudge on the opposite end and thin it out to look natural, as you can see in the picture on the right. It totally saved my life!

Another thing that blew me away was the amazing selection of shades for women of color. As a dark skinned woman this is always a problem for me because there is usually only 3 shades for brown and black women. That was not the case here. bareMinerals understands there’s more than one shade of black and brown and created enough shades so no one felt left out.

And to answer the question I have asked myself 20 years ago, yes all it takes is one small swirl and tap to give you flawless coverage. It’s that simple. I haven’t tried the foundations yet but if they’re anything like the blushes then I’ll without a doubt be able to throw away everything in my make-up box.

giftbagAt the end of the event we received we sweet gift bags (left) with different sample products. I received the blush I now use, an eye liner, mineralixirs, naturally luminous duo and cream eyeshadow that all came in an inspirational tote, which is totally washable and great for packing lots of product.

Thank you Raven and bareMinerals for such a great event and I’m looking forward to the next one.

Are you a fan of bareMinerals? Which products of theirs do you use? If you aren’t they have locations all over, shop by one and look around and try some products
