How many children do you have? 2 children, ages 3 and 22 months.
What are your favorite hobbies? My favorite hobbies are reading, bargain hunting, playing with my boys, and planning events.
When was the last time you had mommy me time and/or couple time and how did you spend it? I’m having mommy time right now–once a month I get a mani/pedi/massage/eyebrow wax. The last time we had couples time was during the boys’ nap yesterday. We were able to get through about an hour and half of an insane Lifetime movie.
How do you balance everything in your life so that you can have a little alone time? I’m learning that there’s no real “balance” to motherhood. I’m constantly juggling. I’ve found that physically scheduling an appointment for mommy time on my calendar makes it a little easier.
If you could spend 24 hours alone how would you spend it? I miss my family when I’m only at work, I honestly don’t think I could spend 24 hours alone. I’d probably check into a hotel, get a nice massage and a plate of food that I could eat without anyone asking for some, and calling my husband to join me for a hot night of incredible, stress relieving…sleep.
What is your family’s favorite fun time activity? Our family likes to dance. My husband and I met dancing to soca music, so it’s only natural that we would dance to soca as a family. We put on some Bunji Garlin (the boys’ favorite) and get “ready for de road” together in the living room, taking turns as we cheer each other on. A new activity we’re trying together is yoga–you should see their downward dog!
What advice would you give a mom who is struggling to find that slice of mommy me time? For the mom who’s struggling to find alone time, I would suggest new ways of finding it. Alone time doesn’t have to be outside the house. A nice bath during nap time, a pedicure you do yourself, dancing while you do the dishes. Anything can be an opportunity to relax and unwind a little.
Thank you Tiffani for sharing your interests with us! I can totally relate to your idea of down time. Sleeping over at a hotel is a great way to get the necessary time to yourself yet be close enough to your family. LOL! That stress relieving sleep is the norm for many parents. It’s the ultimate parental version of expectation v. reality. I love dancing!!! Maybe you can help me find some riddum at one of your future soca classes.
