weekend wrap upIf I had to describe  my Mother’s Day weekend wrap up in one word it would be…pajamas. That’s how I spent my entire weekend and not only am I’m okay with it, I expect more weekends just like it.

I also have to say I don’t know what was in the water this weekend but my kids were really good. I didn’t have to yell at them to stop fighting each other as much as I normally do. Despite how great the weather was we stayed inside. I was just feeling so out of it but I will make it up to them this week. We’re gonna have lots of outside fun.

I’m usually the one who goes out either to an event or to NJ but for a change hubs got some much needed Daddy R+R. He’s really into video games and comic books. I mean really into it, like hardcore. So, he filled his gaming backpack to the brim and set off to play with other dads at a store in the city. I don’t know what they play or what goes on there and I really don’t care. Unless its Mario Cart then I’ll be all up in that piece. I have an obsession with that game. So it was just me and the kids for most of the afternoon. We played make believe and sang songs, some real some made up. And there were naps. Talk about a minor miracle. My kids hardly ever do that any more but when I suggested everyone retreat to their bed for a little quiet time, that time turned into a 2 hour nap for all of us. When we woke up daddy was back and shocked and impressed that I was able to accomplish such feat. Come the end of the night we ordered Chinese, watched Monsters for the millionth time and everyone was happy. Surprisingly the kids were sleep by 10 and did it without a fight. Me and hubs thought we were gonna watch a movie but the movie ended up watching us. We called it an early night and prayed for a late Sunday morning start.

Our day started at about 8:30am which is around the time the kids wake up. Jeff surprised me with a bear and candy for Mother’s Day from him and the kids. That’s only part of my Mother’s Day gift as he’s sending me to the spa in a couple of weeks to get rejuvenated. Because of that I had plans to head to my moms in NJ to be with her due to my grandmother passing less than a month ago. I wanted to be there and comfort her during this difficult period in her life. But, she declined my offer. She went to church and comforted my aunt who was feeling more down than she was. We decided that we would have our Mother’s Day time the Saturday coming up. So with my change of plans it meant I was going to be in the house for the second day in a row. Sierra wanted me and only me to make pancakes, I obliged and made enough to keep everyone happy and full. Afterward I promptly kneed the bed and would remain there for the rest of the day in my pajamas binging on the remaining episodes of Dexter season 5 enjoying a bed picnic thanks to Picnyc’s. They gave me a fantastic Mother’s Day brunch box complete with tea, muffins, donuts and flowers. My husband even took the hint and made sure to keep our bedroom door closed. The kids were not to disturb mommy under any circumstances. I finally removed myself from the dent in the bed about 7:00pm. I took a much needed shower and felt ready to tackle what was left of the day. I cooked dinner and plugged myself back into the world. There was no internet of any kind for me this weekend. I looked at some of my favorite gossip sites and had missed nothing of any importance.

While my weekend wasn’t the gift that I had been begging for over the last few months but my husband gave me just what I needed to help my mind and body relax and ready to go for a new week.

  1. First, Happy Mother’s Day! The best way to spend the day is in your PJ’s. I’m so sorry for the loss of your grandmother, I personally how tough that can be. Glad you got to spend some R+R time with your family.
