  • 52 Lists for Calm Is A Creative Journal That Will Help Soothe Your Anxiety

*FYI: I was given a complimentary copy of the 52 Lists Calm for the purpose of this post. As always all thoughts and opinions are my own.

    52 lists for calm

This week has been crrraazy for me so I’m really happy to be sharing with you Moorea Sea’s latest journal release, 52 Lists for Calm. This Moorea’s second release this year as her 52 Lists Planner dropped during the summer.

If you’re not familiar with Moorea she’s a Seattle boutique owner and the author of the bestselling 52 Lists series. You may have seen her journals floating around here a time or two or three. I’ve been a huge fan of hers since her first journal, The 52 Lists Project. It was the first creative journal I’ve ever purchased, and I’ve been buying them ever since.

52 Lists for Calm was created cause Moorea could see my life and knew I needed help calming the fuck down. Okay, maybe she can’t see me personally but she did see there are women like myself who are stressed and gave us a way to get peace of mind and serenity through the art of mindful list-making. Split into four sections (Be Present, Look Back, Move Forward, and Release) this journal features prompts, exercises, and strategies for soothing anxiety and placing you in a relaxed state.

But don’t mistake it, this journal is NOT about diagnosing anxiety it’s about providing you a space to find your own meaning of calm. It’s to help you develop a positive internal voice, teach you how to live in the present, and release your thoughts each week you start a new list or activity.

4 Things I Love About 52 Lists for Calm?

First, transparency. Moorea doesn’t beat around the bush on how this journal came to be. She talks about her struggles with anxiety and shares a little about her past and what lead up to her being diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. She also talks about how there is no one reason why someone develops an anxiety disorder.

Moorea wants you to take the time ground yourself in the present so that you can get to know the world around you on a deeper level. This is what I, and you need. I don’t know about y’all but I’m always running and I can honestly say I am hardly connected to the things around me. This journal will force us to slow down to enjoy the people and things around us.

Second, it’s undated. Y’all know how much I love an undated planner. This means that you don’t have to work in order. If you want to start List 1 then jump to List 20 it’s fine the choice is truly yours. There are no rules here, with the exception of enjoying yourself.

Third, I love the design. The journal is very peaceful with its combination of images and simplistic illustrations. It’s made to put you in a relaxed mood. It makes you wanna settle in wherever you are so that you can thoroughly and truthfully answer the questions and complete the exercises.

Lastly, like all Moorea’s journals, you can decorate it in whatever way you want. Want to make a list? Cool. Make a collage of images and drawings? That’s fine too. This journal is yours and yours only for you to express yourself how you see fit. Here are some examples of different ways you can work in ANY of the 52 Lists journals.

  • 52 Lists Planner Is Everything You Want in a Wellness Planner

*FYI: I was given a complimentary copy of the 52 Lists Planner for the purpose of this post. As always all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Moorea Seal is expanding her Lists series with the release of 52 Lists Planner. If you don’t know Moorea she’s the author of the wildly successful 52 Lists series and she’s also the owner a Seattle boutique that bears her name. I’ve been a fan of hers since the release of her first journal, The 52 Lists Project. It was the first creative journal I’ve ever purchased, and I haven’t looked back.

So when I got an email asking if I would be interested in featuring her latest work on my lil ole site you know a bish was hyped. Cause as you know I’ve been talking a lot about undated wellness planners so the opportunity to review this one couldn’t have come at a better time. If you missed those posts I’m on the hunt for a planner that was created for the sole purpose of wellness and self-care. And I honestly think I might have found it.

What I love about the 52 Lists Planner

Real talk – 52 Lists Planner is about as close to perfection as you’re going to get in regards to a wellness planner. The red cover combined with the imagery makes it feel warm and inviting, and the gold elastic band is a perfect added touch. I also like that it’s hardcovered and compact enough to fit in a medium side bag or tote. Great for those who like to plan on the go.

Then as soon as you open this planner *boom* – pockets! Two of them! Plenty of room to keep your lil notes and extras safe. As you turn the pages you’ll come to the welcome page where Moorea talks about the difference between goals, tasks, and intentions. She wants you to make a plan before you even put pen to paper. You’re also going to learn how to prioritize and how to get more done in smaller timeframes leaving more time to chill.

But my favorite aspect of this planner is that it’s totally blank. Meaning, you can make this planner whatever you want it to be. You can use it for your appointments or for work or for wellness or all three. But seriously, you should really be using it to plan out time for YOU. That’s the whole point of a wellness planner.

    The monthly and weekly breakdown

Moorea is all about her lists and you’ll find no shortage of them here. At the start of each month, you’re gonna jot down things that will get you one step closer to turning your dreams into reality. There is a monthly glance and a vertical weekly spread with gratitude prompts at the bottom. Each day asks you about your top priorities and boxes to check off what you’ve completed. There’s also a section for your tasks and intentions. When you reach the end of the week, you’ll have a chance to talk about your feelings.

At the back of the planner, you’ll come to a section that asks you to reflect over the last year of your life. Talk about areas where you flourished and areas where you may need a little help. There’s also a brainstorming section. I love this part cause I’m always having ideas in my mind and like most people I write it on the back of junk mail and it ends up forgotten about. No more. Open your 52 Lists Planner and brainstorm your entire project one step at a time.

What I think is missing from the 52 Lists Planner

Unfortunately, yeah there are couple things about this planner that makes me a little sad. So the first thing I noticed was this planner didn’t have a lot of stickers. There’s only one-sheet of about 24 stickers that are pretty sizeable. That’s not a lot for this meaty ass planner. You’ll totally run out before the year is over. I think there should have been at least three full sheets of stickers that could have been a little smaller. As an alternative, if you’re a sticker lover – which I know you are, I know you have tons of unused sticker books that you can use or you can buy some wellness stickers.

The other thing is this planner bound by a spiral binder. Which means when you’ve completed it you’ll have to buy a whole new one. I know there are plenty of other planners that are made like this but this planner cover is so nice I want refills so I can keep using it. And with a current price point of $15.52 on Amazon (original price $30), I say buy as many as you want and create your own annual planner series.

Should you get the 52 Lists Planner?

The long and the short answer is hells, yeah. And no, I’m not just saying that cause I got comped one. I assure you I would have purchased this planner regardless. Moorea’s list journals tap into the inspiring spaces of our mind that we sometimes forget, and this planner will help us plan and execute those ideas.

  • The Ban.do Wellness Planner Isn’t What You Think It Is

    Ban.do Undated Wellness Planner

Okay so remember when I talked about three undated wellness planners you need to check out. In that post, I said I was most interested in the ban.do undated Wellness Planner. So I ordered it and I was so excited to receive it, but then I realized it wasn’t the planner I thought it was.

Now let me be clear now, this is post isn’t meant to drag anyone or be mean. At least that isn’t my intention. I’m just keeping it real with you about what I do and don’t like about this particular planner.

I’m gonna jump right into it.

Pros of the Ban.do Undated Wellness Planner

    Ban.do Undated Wellness Planner

    How it’s broken down

This planner is broken up into five sections: Eat + Drink, Relax, Activities, Feelings, and Goals. You can tell the creators really wanted to explore ways that would help the user of this planner can get on the road to living a more stress-free life.

    It’s informative

At the start of each section, there are 2-3 pages that give you all the information you’ll need about the section. I like how this is laid out cause it gives me tips and ideas from more than a dozen women who are experts in their fields. It gave me an introduction to crystals, told me ways I can workout outside of the gym, ways to process my feelings and so much more. There are also 18 motivational reminder cards that you can take out of the book and put in your wallet or add them to your bulletin board. The idea is that these little place cards help keep you on track.

    This is a small planner

It measures 8 inches x 6.5 inches. Which means it can fit it nicely in a medium-sized bag without taking up a whole lot of space. This is perfect for those who like to take their planners with them on the go. Sometimes if a planner is too big, heavy or both you tend to not want to take it with you. But this one you can pretty much travel with it wherever you go.

    Ban.do Undated Wellness Planner

    It’s got a hardcover

I like hardcover planners and journals. I’m not rough with my stuff however there are times when I put books and things in my backpack and they get bent, crushed, or even torn from stuffing things in. With a hardcover that’s less likely to happen. Also, the cover is easy to clean. Just a simple quick lightly dampened paper towel will keep your planner looking brand new.

It has a 3 ring binder

I was so excited to see this because this means I can rearrange the sections or I can add my own personal touches. The idea that I can design this beyond its intended use really excites me.

    It has stickers

There are two sheets of stickers and considering the length of the planner (which I’ll get to in a minute), there will be enough to go around. The stickers (and illustrations) in this planner remind me of FLOW so I can use my own stickers or use these in my FLOW projects.

Cons of the Ban.do Undated Wellness Planner

    Ban.do Undated Wellness Planner

    It’s only a 6-week planner

I’ma keep it all the way real with you, for the amount of money this planner costs it should have been a 12-month planner. Even if that meant the planner was a little bit bigger. I think there was so much potential that was lost with it being so short. If it’s something that’s supposed to motivate me into living better then I’m going to need more than 6-weeks to get into the groove, at least I think.

    There are no refills

This is my BIGGEST con. Once you’ve filled up your planner you’re shit out of luck. At this point, you have two options: you can purchase a new planner or you can photocopy the sheets. But I’m telling you now if photocopy it won’t look or feel the same unless you’re using thick colorful/patterned paper. My biggest question is, what’s the point of having a 3-ring binder planner with no refills? Yeah, I can decorate and add to it as I mentioned but if someone is lazy, as I can sometimes be – no refills makes this planner useless. Cause whose gonna buy another one? Not I.

The lines to write are too small

After you read through the beginning of the section you’ll come to some prompt sheets. These sheets help bring the whole section together but space to write in is too small. Because the book is small (yay!) that takes away from the spacing needed to write your notes (boo!). I tend to write really big and need space to really get my words out. So if you write like me you’re really gonna have to keep it short and sweet, and small.

    Ban.do Undated Wellness Planner

Do I feel bad that I purchased this planner? No, cause honestly speaking it really is nice. It’s prompted me to want to learn and do more. It also gave a chance to follow some new people on IG. So the potential IS there, I just wish the missing things were included to make it perfect. Maybe there will be more with those additions in the future but until then I’ll just creatively make my own.

  • Decorate Your Wellness Planner with These Wellness Stickers

Now that you’ve got your wellness planner it’s time to decorate it, and what better way to do that than with wellness stickers. I’m gonna be super honest with you I had a really hard time finding self-care/wellness stickers. Which I’m really surprised by because I would have thought with the number of self-care/wellness planners and journals there would have been a wider selection of stickers to match.

But that doesn’t mean that I didn’t find any stickers. I came across a few stickers that are worth checking out. They come in a wide range of design and colors, perfect for any style of planner you may have.
