  • 52 Lists for Calm Is A Creative Journal That Will Help Soothe Your Anxiety

*FYI: I was given a complimentary copy of the 52 Lists Calm for the purpose of this post. As always all thoughts and opinions are my own.

    52 lists for calm

This week has been crrraazy for me so I’m really happy to be sharing with you Moorea Sea’s latest journal release, 52 Lists for Calm. This Moorea’s second release this year as her 52 Lists Planner dropped during the summer.

If you’re not familiar with Moorea she’s a Seattle boutique owner and the author of the bestselling 52 Lists series. You may have seen her journals floating around here a time or two or three. I’ve been a huge fan of hers since her first journal, The 52 Lists Project. It was the first creative journal I’ve ever purchased, and I’ve been buying them ever since.

52 Lists for Calm was created cause Moorea could see my life and knew I needed help calming the fuck down. Okay, maybe she can’t see me personally but she did see there are women like myself who are stressed and gave us a way to get peace of mind and serenity through the art of mindful list-making. Split into four sections (Be Present, Look Back, Move Forward, and Release) this journal features prompts, exercises, and strategies for soothing anxiety and placing you in a relaxed state.

But don’t mistake it, this journal is NOT about diagnosing anxiety it’s about providing you a space to find your own meaning of calm. It’s to help you develop a positive internal voice, teach you how to live in the present, and release your thoughts each week you start a new list or activity.

4 Things I Love About 52 Lists for Calm?

First, transparency. Moorea doesn’t beat around the bush on how this journal came to be. She talks about her struggles with anxiety and shares a little about her past and what lead up to her being diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. She also talks about how there is no one reason why someone develops an anxiety disorder.

Moorea wants you to take the time ground yourself in the present so that you can get to know the world around you on a deeper level. This is what I, and you need. I don’t know about y’all but I’m always running and I can honestly say I am hardly connected to the things around me. This journal will force us to slow down to enjoy the people and things around us.

Second, it’s undated. Y’all know how much I love an undated planner. This means that you don’t have to work in order. If you want to start List 1 then jump to List 20 it’s fine the choice is truly yours. There are no rules here, with the exception of enjoying yourself.

Third, I love the design. The journal is very peaceful with its combination of images and simplistic illustrations. It’s made to put you in a relaxed mood. It makes you wanna settle in wherever you are so that you can thoroughly and truthfully answer the questions and complete the exercises.

Lastly, like all Moorea’s journals, you can decorate it in whatever way you want. Want to make a list? Cool. Make a collage of images and drawings? That’s fine too. This journal is yours and yours only for you to express yourself how you see fit. Here are some examples of different ways you can work in ANY of the 52 Lists journals.

  • 52 Lists Planner Is Everything You Want in a Wellness Planner

*FYI: I was given a complimentary copy of the 52 Lists Planner for the purpose of this post. As always all thoughts and opinions are my own.

52 Lists Planner wellness planner moorea seal mommyrandr

Moorea Seal is expanding her Lists series with the release of 52 Lists Planner. If you don’t know Moorea she’s the author of the wildly successful 52 Lists series and she’s also the owner a Seattle boutique that bears her name. I’ve been a fan of hers since the release of her first journal, The 52 Lists Project. It was the first creative journal I’ve ever purchased, and I haven’t looked back.

So when I got an email asking if I would be interested in featuring her latest work on my lil ole site you know a bish was hyped. Cause as you know I’ve been talking a lot about undated wellness planners so the opportunity to review this one couldn’t have come at a better time. If you missed those posts I’m on the hunt for a planner that was created for the sole purpose of wellness and self-care. And I honestly think I might have found it.

What I love about the 52 Lists Planner

Real talk – 52 Lists Planner is about as close to perfection as you’re going to get in regards to a wellness planner. The red cover combined with the imagery makes it feel warm and inviting, and the gold elastic band is a perfect added touch. I also like that it’s hardcovered and compact enough to fit in a medium side bag or tote. Great for those who like to plan on the go.

Then as soon as you open this planner *boom* – pockets! Two of them! Plenty of room to keep your lil notes and extras safe. As you turn the pages you’ll come to the welcome page where Moorea talks about the difference between goals, tasks, and intentions. She wants you to make a plan before you even put pen to paper. You’re also going to learn how to prioritize and how to get more done in smaller timeframes leaving more time to chill.

But my favorite aspect of this planner is that it’s totally blank. Meaning, you can make this planner whatever you want it to be. You can use it for your appointments or for work or for wellness or all three. But seriously, you should really be using it to plan out time for YOU. That’s the whole point of a wellness planner.

    The monthly and weekly breakdown

Moorea is all about her lists and you’ll find no shortage of them here. At the start of each month, you’re gonna jot down things that will get you one step closer to turning your dreams into reality. There is a monthly glance and a vertical weekly spread with gratitude prompts at the bottom. Each day asks you about your top priorities and boxes to check off what you’ve completed. There’s also a section for your tasks and intentions. When you reach the end of the week, you’ll have a chance to talk about your feelings.

At the back of the planner, you’ll come to a section that asks you to reflect over the last year of your life. Talk about areas where you flourished and areas where you may need a little help. There’s also a brainstorming section. I love this part cause I’m always having ideas in my mind and like most people I write it on the back of junk mail and it ends up forgotten about. No more. Open your 52 Lists Planner and brainstorm your entire project one step at a time.

What I think is missing from the 52 Lists Planner

Unfortunately, yeah there are couple things about this planner that makes me a little sad. So the first thing I noticed was this planner didn’t have a lot of stickers. There’s only one-sheet of about 24 stickers that are pretty sizeable. That’s not a lot for this meaty ass planner. You’ll totally run out before the year is over. I think there should have been at least three full sheets of stickers that could have been a little smaller. As an alternative, if you’re a sticker lover – which I know you are, I know you have tons of unused sticker books that you can use or you can buy some wellness stickers.

52 Lists Planner wellness planner moorea seal mommyrandr

The other thing is this planner bound by a spiral binder. Which means when you’ve completed it you’ll have to buy a whole new one. I know there are plenty of other planners that are made like this but this planner cover is so nice I want refills so I can keep using it. And with a current price point of $15.52 on Amazon (original price $30), I say buy as many as you want and create your own annual planner series.

Should you get the 52 Lists Planner?

The long and the short answer is hells, yeah. And no, I’m not just saying that cause I got comped one. I assure you I would have purchased this planner regardless. Moorea’s list journals tap into the inspiring spaces of our mind that we sometimes forget, and this planner will help us plan and execute those ideas.

  • Decorate Your Wellness Planner with These Wellness Stickers

Now that you’ve got your wellness planner it’s time to decorate it, and what better way to do that than with wellness stickers. I’m gonna be super honest with you I had a really hard time finding self-care/wellness stickers. Which I’m really surprised by because I would have thought with the number of self-care/wellness planners and journals there would have been a wider selection of stickers to match.

But that doesn’t mean that I didn’t find any stickers. I came across a few stickers that are worth checking out. They come in a wide range of design and colors, perfect for any style of planner you may have.

  • 10 BRANDS I’M DIGGING FROM THE NATIONAL STATIONERY SHOW

national stationery show mommyrandr valerie pierre

The National Stationery Show is an annual trade event that takes place in NYC. Stationery store owners from all over the world descend on the Javits Center to showcase and scope out the latest in stationery products.

This year there were more than 800+ business that were present. That is a lot of paper, my friends. I tried to see as many booths as I could but it was impossible. I spent two days there found a number of brands that I really loved. Some were already favorites and others were new discoveries for me since I’m new to the stationery and planner world. Of all the booths I visited I’m gonna to share 10 with that I really dug and I hope to learn more about them as I navigate my newfound hobby.

    Hadron Epoch

NATIONAL STATIONERY SHOW Hadron Epoch valerie pierre mommyrandr

These are the cutest pack of notebooks. I liked them because of their wide range of patterns and colors. The stitch binding and soft cover make it easy enough to go in almost any purse you have. The pages come lined, dotted and plain for various types writing and drawing. There are no limits to what you can use these journals for.

Set of 3 Patterned Notebooks | BUY

    Free Period Press

national stationery show mommyrandr valerie pierre free period press

Not everyone is into planner books. I get it, they can be intimidating and/or just too pretty to even write in for fear of messing it up. Some people like simple. That’s why I liked the Schedule Magic desk pad. It’s small enough to go in a corner on your desk, yet big enough to jot down your entire schedule.

See what’s hot off the press | BUY

    PleaseNotes

national stationery show mommyrandr valerie pierre pleasenotes

These just aren’t your regular run of the mill journals, these are affirmation/inspirational based journals. They are set up so that we have conversations with ourselves. They have questions and activities to help you uncover parts of you that you didn’t know existed. I especially love the quotes on each page. Another fav were the mirror decals. You just stick it on and every day as you do your hair or makeup you can speak your truth.

    Webster’s Pages

national stationery show mommyrandr valerie pierre webster's pages

I love a good ole fashioned spiral notebook but I just don’t care for the ole fashioned feel. I use notebooks to jot down notes and other important information. Yes, we live in the age of phone memos and Google drive but I just like the idea of pen (or pencil) and paper. Webster’s also has some dope ass travel notebooks as well. The covers come in a number of styles and the small notebook that come with it has lined or plain pages. The inner notebooks don’t have that many pages but not to worry you can buy replacement ones and keep on planning.

Plan your next adventure | BUY

    Design Loop

national stationery show mommyrandr valerie pierre design loop

The Wit & Delight collection by Design Loop is simplicity at its finest. The solid color and block lettering easily stood out in a sea of the trendy hot pink, teal and rose gold. If you follow Wit & Delight online then you know this collection is a true reflection of their clean style aesthetic. In this collection, you’ll find journals (lined and bulleted), notebooks, desktop calendars and other accessories.

Check out the Wit & Delight collection | BUY

    My Infinite Agenda

national stationery show mommyrandr valerie pierre my infinite agenda

I liked these planners cause each color is connected to a different charity. It’s always great to help others while treating yourself. Read more about those charities on their website under the Product with Purpose tab. Be warned this planner is thick and heavy. This is a desk planner, not one to have in your purse every day. I wouldn’t consider it just a planner its a place for you to map your long-term dreams and goals.

    Pre-Order 2019 Agenda | BUY

    Good Juju Ink

national stationery show mommyrandr valerie pierre good juju ink

Good Juju literally stopped me in my tracks with their artwork. The prints are apart of their Egypt Collection – which is coming at the end of July. It will have matching prints and planners that feature (from left to right) Cleopatra, Pharaoh Hatshepsut, and Queen Nefertiti. I was lucky enough to snag all three prints from the show. (Thanks again!) They are gorgeous! I sadly, can’t say much about the planner cause I forgot to look inside, doh! That’s okay when this planner drops we’ll learn about it together.

Get Some Good Juju | BUY

    Rude Love

national stationery show mommyrandr valerie pierre rude love

I have a potty mouth and sometimes most times those cutesy Hallmark cards just can’t express how I really feel. Which is why I rarely do cards. But when I saw that big ass ‘Well Fuck’ card I knew I had found my tribe with Rude Love creator Jenn. For the record, these aren’t for everyone I know. My mom will still get those Hallmark cards she loves so much but the man and my friends will totally get one of these.

Send some Rude Love | BUY

    Of Unusual Kind

national stationery show mommyrandr valerie pierre of unusual kind

These are not your childhood paper dolls. These are chic modern paper dolls that can be for play or for decorative purposes. Each doll comes with a name and backstory. I liked Willow (black one on the left) I felt a connection to her, and we kinda look alike so that’s always a plus!

    Paper Doll Kits | BUY

    The Happiness Planner

Bruh! This is a serious planner right here. The first thing that stood out to me were the color block covers. You can’t tell from this image but the cover looks and feels like cloth. The binding, accessories and framed metal edges give it a nice luxe touch. This is planner is like a brick giving you an entire page for each day to not only fill out your schedule but to also talk about what you’re grateful for and what your hopes are the year. It also gives you tips on how to live your happy life to the fullest. It’s expensive but I think it’s totally worth the price.

    Get some happiness | BUY

I had such a blast at the National Stationery Show! I wish I could have shown you more but it would have been impossible. Did you see anything you liked from the brands listed? Are you familiar with any of the brands listed? Share in the comments below.
